Prices and availability for Alicante come through our partner network, Localrent. Your booking completes on the partner's secure checkout.
Alicante airport sits just south of the city with the coastal motorway running north to Benidorm, Altea and Calpe and south to Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca's quieter beaches, so most resorts are an easy drive from the terminal. The coast road itself is slower but far prettier, and a car is what lets you leave the resort strip for inland villages like Guadalest and the almond valleys behind them. Local companies pick up at the airport and around the city, and the cars on this page come from them with prices updated live.

Renting a car in Alicante: common questions
Is Benidorm easy to reach from Alicante airport?
Yes, it is a straightforward drive north on the motorway, well signed from the airport exit, and the AP-7 stretch between Alicante and Benidorm no longer charges a toll. Once in Benidorm, parking near the beaches is the hard part, so check whether your accommodation has a space before deciding on the size of car.
When is the best time to drive the Costa Blanca?
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot, with warm weather, quiet roads and easy parking in the coastal towns. July and August are hot and the coast road through Altea and Calpe crawls on weekends. Winter is mild and popular with long-stay visitors, and inland routes to Guadalest and Jalón are at their best then.
What licence do I need?
A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. The exact conditions for every car are shown before you book.
Is there a deposit, and what about insurance?
Deposit and insurance terms differ between companies in Alicante, so they are shown per car before you book. You will see what is included, what the excess is, and whether a deposit is held on your card at the desk.
