Should I drive in central Belgrade?
Only if you have to. Parking in the centre is zoned with time limits and is mostly paid by SMS or app, and the bridges over the Sava clog at rush hour. Collect the car at Nikola Tesla Airport or on the day you head out of town, and park it at your accommodation while you explore the centre on foot.
Where does a car take me from Belgrade?
North to Novi Sad and the vineyards of Fruska Gora on a fast road, west to Sremska Mitrovica and the Roman ruins, or south to the Tara and Zlatibor mountains and the wooden village at Mokra Gora. The motorway corridors are good, while country roads are slower and often shared with farm traffic.
What licence do I need?
A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. The exact conditions for every car are shown before you book.
Is there a deposit, and what about insurance?
