Should I fly into Burgas or Varna?
Burgas is the better choice for Sunny Beach, Nessebar and Sozopol, all a short drive away. Varna suits the northern coast and Golden Sands. Sofia works if you want to see the mountains and monasteries first and then drive to the sea. Set the pick-up city in the search to match your arrival airport.
Do I need a vignette to drive in Bulgaria?
Bulgaria uses an electronic vignette for most main roads, and rental cars are usually supplied with one already valid for the country. Confirm this on the conditions shown for the car you choose, and remember that a vignette does not cover crossing into neighbouring countries, which needs separate permission from the rental company.
What licence do I need?
A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions.
