Should I fly into Girona or Barcelona for a Costa Brava trip?
Girona if your flights allow it. The airport is small, close to the coast and much quicker to leave than Barcelona El Prat. If you must fly to Barcelona, picking up there is still workable, since the AP-7 gets you to the Costa Brava in an easy afternoon.
How is driving and parking in the coastal villages?
Tight. Places like Cadaqués, Tossa de Mar and Calella de Palafrugell have narrow lanes and limited parking, especially in July and August. A small car makes life easier, and arriving early or staying overnight is the trick to finding a space near the beach.
What licence do I need?
A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions.
