Prices and availability for Ibiza come through our partner networks, EconomyBookings and Discover Cars. Your booking completes on the partner's secure checkout.

Ibiza is small enough to cross in under an hour, but the beaches are scattered around every side of the island and the buses do not go to most of them. With a car you can start the day at a north-coast cove, lunch in Santa Gertrudis and finish at a west-coast sunset bar, as long as you arrive before the beach car parks fill. Our partner network compares local and international rental companies at the airport and in the main towns, with live prices.

Renting a car in Ibiza: common questions

Do I need a car to reach Ibiza's beaches?

For the town beaches and Playa d'en Bossa, no. For Cala Comte, Cala Salada, Benirras and the northern coves, yes. The car parks at those beaches are small and fill by late morning in summer, so plan an early start or go late in the afternoon when the first wave leaves.

Can I take the hire car to Formentera?

Formentera is reached by ferry from Ibiza town. The ferries do carry vehicles, but most rental agreements forbid taking the car off the island and Formentera itself limits visiting vehicles in summer. The usual plan is to leave the car in a car park near the port and hire a scooter or bicycle on Formentera, which is how the island is set up. If you want to take a hire car across, check the per-car conditions in the search before you book.

What licence do I need?

A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. The exact conditions for every car are shown before you book.

Is there a deposit, and what about insurance?

Deposit and insurance terms differ between companies in Ibiza, so they are shown per car before you book. You will see what is included, what the excess is, and whether a deposit is held on your card at the desk.

Where does the booking actually happen?

You search from this page and see live cars and prices on our partner’s site. When you choose one, the booking completes on their secure checkout, where you confirm the details and receive your voucher. Show the voucher at the desk on pick-up.
