Prices and availability for Jamaica come through our partner network, Localrent. Your booking completes on the partner's secure checkout.

Jamaica drives on the left, and its roads run from the coastal highway between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios to narrow, twisting routes through the Blue Mountains and the interior. A car lets you get past the resort gates to Treasure Beach, the waterfalls and the roadside jerk stops that make the island worth the trip. Montego Bay is the pick-up point in the search, and the cars listed here belong to local companies with live prices.

Renting a car in Jamaica: common questions

Where should I pick up the car?

Montego Bay is the main arrival airport and the pick-up point for the cars on this page. If you are staying in Negril or Ocho Rios, check the delivery options shown per car, as some companies deliver along the north coast. If you fly into Kingston, the pick-up points shown per car tell you whether collection there is possible.

Is driving on the left difficult in Jamaica?

It takes a day to settle in, and an automatic helps because you are not shifting with the other hand. Roads outside the north-coast highway can be narrow with potholes and unmarked bends, so go slower than the locals, avoid driving in the hills after dark, and give yourself extra time.

What licence do I need?

A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. The exact conditions for every car are shown before you book.

Is there a deposit, and what about insurance?

Deposit and insurance terms differ between companies in Jamaica, so they are shown per car before you book. You will see what is included, what the excess is, and whether a deposit is held on your card at the desk.

Where does the booking actually happen?

You search here and see live cars and prices from local rental companies. When you choose one, the booking completes on our partner network’s secure checkout, where you confirm the details and receive your voucher. Show the voucher at the desk on pick-up.
