No, the centre is closed to traffic and easy on foot or by bike, and parking near it is limited and paid. Use the park-and-ride sites on the edge of the city if you keep the car for the whole trip, or time the pick-up for the day you leave for the lakes and mountains.
What should I know about driving in Slovenia?
Motorways need a vignette, which Slovenian rental cars normally include, so check the conditions shown per car. Roads to Bled and the coast are quick, but the Vrsic pass into the Soca valley is steep with tight hairpins and closes with snow in winter, so plan mountain routes for late spring to autumn.
What licence do I need?
