A normal hatchback handles the Tizi n'Tichka to Ouarzazate and the road to Essaouira, as both are paved. Choose something with more power if you are four people with luggage, and consider a 4x4 only if you intend to head onto dirt tracks in the Draa Valley or the desert. Snow can close passes in winter, so check conditions before you set off.
