Should I pick up in the centre or at the airport?
Collect the car on the day you plan to leave the city, not the day you arrive. The airport and the ring-road offices are the easiest starts, since driving into the historic centre means one-way streets, tram lanes and parking zones that are reserved for residents. Walk and ride the metro while you are in Prague, then take the car for the countryside.
What should I know about motorway driving in the Czech Republic?
Czech motorways normally use an electronic vignette linked to the number plate rather than toll booths. Rental cars from local offices usually come with it included, but confirm in the conditions shown per car before you head to Brno or the German border. Roads are well signed and traffic outside Prague is light.
What licence do I need?
A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions.
