Prices and availability for Rabat come through our partner networks, EconomyBookings and Discover Cars. Your booking completes on the partner's secure checkout.

Rabat is Morocco's calm capital: wide boulevards, a tram, an Atlantic seafront and a medina that is smaller and easier than the ones in Fez or Marrakech. Driving inside the city is manageable, though roundabouts move fast and parking near the medina and Hassan Tower fills up early. The real reason to rent is the road beyond town, along the coast to Casablanca and Asilah or inland to Meknes and the Roman ruins at Volubilis, and our partner network compares local and international rental companies with live prices.

Renting a car in Rabat: common questions

Should I fly into Rabat or Casablanca?

Rabat-Salé airport is small and close to the city, with a short drive in. Casablanca has far more flights and is about an hour down the motorway, so it often works out better for long-haul arrivals. Either way, choose the pick-up point that matches your arrival airport when you search and compare the two.

Where should I base myself with a car?

Rabat itself is a good base for the coast and the Meknes and Volubilis day trip. If your trip leans towards the beaches, Skhirat and Temara south of the city are quieter with easier parking. Staying just outside the medina walls means you can leave the car at your accommodation and walk in.

What licence do I need?

A full driving licence held for at least a year is the usual requirement, and each company sets its own minimum age and young-driver conditions. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. The exact conditions for every car are shown before you book.

Is there a deposit, and what about insurance?

Deposit and insurance terms differ between companies in Rabat, so they are shown per car before you book. You will see what is included, what the excess is, and whether a deposit is held on your card at the desk.

Where does the booking actually happen?

You search from this page and see live cars and prices on our partner’s site. When you choose one, the booking completes on their secure checkout, where you confirm the details and receive your voucher. Show the voucher at the desk on pick-up.
